2012 Ram 1500 4x4 5.7L. Over half of those miles have been driven in the past year and a half alone.
Only issues are when it was new there was a constant rattle near the sunroof. Three trips to the dealer and it was never truly fixed. Quick smack of the hand to the headliner cures it mostly.
The fuel guage has started to get crazy in the cold. The other day it showed a full tank and distance to empty was at 450 miles, which I knew was not true. After about 15 minutes of driving it settled back to half tank where I knew it was.

14.3 is about what my Duramax gets. Of course, Oppo already knows about the Dieselrado...

That’s a lot of seat time.

This is normal when it’s about 30 degrees or lower out. When it’s warm the overall is about 16 mpg.

Q: Which ones were your favorite?

which what? miles?

I cannot be bothered to not use the throttle, so 14 is where it stays :)
So why a Ram and not an F-150 or GMC Sierra (which I like better than the Silverado)?

Did a cross country road trip which was about 5500 miles in less than 2 weeks, other than that it was driven on lots of camping trips, and my wife and I shared it because she was over on her lease miles

Yes, which ones of the 50,000 miles did you like the best?

F-150 was about $3000 more when equipped the same. I also hated their radio (ford sync era)
Silverado was second only because I was working at Chrysler at the time and had a nice employee discount for Rams. I do think my next truck will be a Colorado with a Dmax in it though

This one, about 5500 miles worth

Drove from Michigan to Vegas, then my wife drove up to Reno, then we drove back home together over the course of about 11 days. It was on this trip I found out my cruise control only works up to 99 mph, thanks to Nebraska

Employee discounts and not being forced to park at the back of the lot are good reasons to do that.
And as a traveler who rents Fords with Ford Sync and MyFordTouch, they can keep it.
Have you considered trading for a Ram EcoDiesel if you like the size of the Ram 1500, or do you really want a smaller truck?

I worked on the Ram ED for about 6 months, and the turbo lag is beyond what I consider to be “acceptable” for daily driving. It tows good, once it’s rolling it drives great, but that initial hesitation off the line is too much for me to deal with on a daily basis.
The colorado I can still do what I’m doing now with my Ram. have a toy hauler we use for camping that the smaller truck can pull, but when I tow it with my Ram I average about 8 mpg, so any improvement would be a nice help

That trip sounds awesome.

The Duramax (I have the second gen, RPO LLY) has goofy turbo lag, but the engine has enough displacement that even without the turbo online, you have about 375 ft-lbf of torque at your disposal at idle. With it boosting, you have 520 ft-lbf at 1600RPM.
So it’s not as if it *needs* boost to get moving, but it makes it move with more alacrity than it has any right to have.

ecodiesel you always had to plan for the lag, such as if you’re in the left hand turn lane and making your turn between a the traffic. You had to tip about 1 second ahead of when you actually wanted to start moving

Ha that’s what my 2003 Ford F250 with V10 gets all the time.

Cold out, drops to around 14.5 during winter. Normally I get 16 overall

I pretty much get 14 no matter the temp or what I’m pulling. Can pull my wifes 5k lb horse trailer empty, with 3 horses or pull nothing and still gets 14 mpg.

Highway cruising I can get about 19 on a good day. If I’m towing our 5500 pound 27 foot toy hauler/camper, I get about 8 mpg. Which is why I’ve been waiting for the Colorado Duramax to reach the dealers, because I want that as my next truck

Hate to say it but I hated the lag on my 2010 laramie 3500 for two years. finally broke down and got a minimaxx. which takes the detuned manual and makes it the same hp as the auto. Still wasn’t happy as it seemed to have more power but took forever to make it. So I went in after a month and set the torque management from dodge to off. Holy crap what a difference. I ended up turning it back on because it seemed to be just too much jumping around for me to enjoy driving the truck from a stop. It was better for me to turn the truck up for power and have a better torque curve then to just have it all at once. To each their own but I suggest looking more into this so called “Problem” because it might actually be a case of too much motor and needing that lag. I hear the new Jeep diesel combo their coming out with has this problem where its just to much torque so they are trying to detune to everyones liking. Not sure how other sizes and classes are detuned but I would see what is available first.
